Pillars of Support
Throughout the Malthouse, the original cast iron pillars that supported the malting floors have been retained as working reminders of the structure of this unique building. To reflect this heritage, patrons of the Malthouse are known as “Pillars of Support”. The names of each of our Pillars of Support are celebrated on hand-made cast-iron plaques on pillars around the Malthouse.
While the plaques may be purchased separately at a cost of £500, Pillars of Support are kindly requested to make a suggested donation of £9,500 or more to the Malthouse Campaign. This is not compulsory.
Become a Pillar of Support, and play your part in the future of the Malthouse.
Terms and Conditions
For the purposes of applying Gift Aid for UK taxpayers, your contribution to the Pillars of Support is split between a payment of £500 (inclusive of VAT) for the plaque, and a suggested voluntary donation of £9,500. This is not compulsory. Plaques can be purchased separately, and any amount above this is given freely as a donation. For Gift Aid purposes, the amount of your payment which may be claimed is £9,500.
Plaques will be displayed for a minimum of ten years, after which you will be contacted to find out if you wish to renew your contribution. Pillars are subject to availability and allocated by the School. The King’s School reserves the right to approve and adjust the final message on your plaque.
